Regenerating our planet from the ocean up.

We need to regenerate our oceans if human civilization is to survive. We have designed Marine Permaculture mariculture as a means to regenerate seaweed ecosystems and forest the ocean.

THE PROBLEM

Our oceans are suffering -
so are those who depend on them

Picture

Too hot to turn

A heated ocean fails to circulate water, denying marine life vital nutrients from deep below.
Picture

Fried and stratified

Seawater stratification – forming into separate ‘stable’ layers – is in fact deeply destabilising to marine ecosystems.

The marine furnace

93% of greenhouse gas emissions end up in the upper ocean, destroying ocean eco-systems.

WHAT WE DO

We're regenerating the world's oceans with sustainable and scalable nature-based solutions.

By developing the global seaweed industry sustainably the Climate Foundation can – supported by you and working with nature – help to revive our oceans, feed millions and even reverse global warming.

MARINE PERMACULTURE

From deforestation
to Seaforestation.

Seaweed marine forests are foundational ecosystems that support a diverse web of marine life. Warming water temperatures associated with climate change is posing an existential threat to many seaweed forests in tropical waters. In response, the Climate Foundation has pioneered Marine Permaculture, which by stimulating the circulation of nutrient-rich water by natural means, can help regenerate seaweed forests and even bring them offshore, safely and sustainability. This we call Seaforestation.

Regeneration in Seas and Soils

BIOCHAR

Making poor soil rich

We work not only at sea but also on land, building ‘Biochar’ reactors for biological charcoal that enriches soil carbon content and improves soil quality.

CORALS

Coral (un)bleaching

Our work helping to restore overturning circulation also helps coral reefs, reversing widespread coral bleaching by cooling them.

AZOLLA

Amazing Azolla

This tiny plant can remove gigantic amounts of carbon from the atmosphere as well as guaranteeing food security for millions. We’re working to re-harness its astonishing natural energy.

We want to turn footprints into handprints.
Our goals are to scale our solutions to provide food security, ensure ecosystem survive and carbon balance that we fix carbon from the atmosphere.

Regeneration has two meanings. It refers to regenerating life on earth. And it refers to a new generation of humanity coming together to reverse global warming.
